Character and Skills: 
 

Purpose:

 The Outdoor Custodian will cooperate with the Outside Custodian for mowing, the pastor, staff and members of the church so that the mission of the church may go forward smoothly. The Outdoor Custodian will keep up the church property in order to provide a hospitable place where people can connect to God’s family, Word, and way of life. 

Time Commitment: This will be a part time position.

Responsibilities:

Winter:

• Remove snow and ice from all sidewalks as needed.

• Remove snow from roof edges if needed.

• Inspect roofs for ice buildup.Remove if safety permits.

• Other duties may be required.

 

Spring & Summer:

• Perform general clean-up of facility property (raking, pick up tree limbs, etc.)

• Trim all bushes, plants and trees

• Repair turf, if needed

• Startup sprinkler system, ensure it is operating correctly, and perform minor repairs as needed

• Apply appropriate fertilizer to lawns, bushes, plants, etc.

• Keep sidewalks trimmed and swept clean

• Edge every other week

• Water bushes, plants, flowers, etc.

• Additional sprinklers may be needed to keep lawn and shrubbery watered

 

Autumn:

• Similar duties as Spring and Summer (see above)

• Shut down sprinkler system

• Apply appropriate fertilizer

 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Responsible for minor maintenance to lawn equipment

• Responsible for outside storage building

• Responsible to report any maintenance or repair issues to building or property to the Property Committee

 

Specific Responsibilities/Requirements of Outside Custodian:

• Trim trees and shrubs as needed

• New mulch in the spring

• Fertilize 3 times per year – 1 hour/time

• Cleaning, monitoring and replacing exterior lights

• Water flowers

• Apply Round-Up every other week

• Tractor maintenance

• Monitor and maintain underground sprinkling

• When its dry out, apply water to areas that do not get reached by sprinkling system

• In the winter, snow blow/shovel sidewalks, doorways and walkways and apply salt to these areas if needed
